  • Individual Therapy

Individual therapy is a great thing to do for yourself. It allows you to set aside a special time each week to explore aspects of your life that might be improved, and to talk about potentially difficult topics in a safe a confidential environment with someone there to give you 100% of their attention to help figure things out in a gentle, collaborative way. It is a time to focus on yourself — me time, in the truest sense — and is an enriching way to care for yourself. What issues can be addressed in individual therapy? Struggles with depression and/or anxiety; dealing with difficult medical situations or decisions; making difficult life transitions; figuring out one’s role in a relationship problem; coping with the end of a relationship; preparing for future couple or family work; the desire for personal growth or to individuate; or a personal problem that seems indefinable. Lindsey Hoskins and her associates aim to take care of Bethesda MD with Individualized Therapy. As we explore personal issues during this time, we may also talk about your couple, family, or other relationships, adopting what we call a systemic perspective to explore the ways in which your life is influenced by the contexts in which you are embedded–most notably, your closest relationships. If you choose, you may transition to couple or family therapy after being in individual therapy for any length of time by inviting loved ones with whom you have important relationships to join you in therapy. You may do this by continuing with the same therapist, or by seeing a second clinician in our practice for the couple or family work. Your therapist will help you decide how to do this in the best and healthiest way. Please reach out to Hoskins & Associates if you feel you could benefit from individual therapy in Bethesda MD. Schedule an appointment online for individual therapy with one of our clinicians or call 240-752-7650.

    Price: 140.00 - 180.00 per 50-minute session; $210-$270 per 90-minute session

  • Couple Therapy

Couples therapy can be helpful for partners who find themselves facing a challenge in any aspect of their relationship. The clinicians at Lindsey Hoskins & Associates have extensive experience working with couples in all different types of relationships and facing the full spectrum of relationship problems. We work with dating couples, engaged couples, newly married couples, partners who are in committed non-marital relationships, and couples who have been married for any length of time. In our experience, couples therapy is most effective when both partners participate willingly, fully, and enthusiastically. For whom is couples therapy appropriate? Dating couples Couples contemplating or planning for marriage read more about premarital counseling here Same-sex couples Couples in long-term committed relationship who do not wish to marry Married couples Separated or divorcing couples may also choose family therapy What issues can be addressed in couples therapy? Improving communication patterns, or developing non-abusive forms of communication Rebuilding or strengthening trust Increasing intimacy Preparing for cohabitation or marriage Moving past an affair or other transgression Deciding whether to continue a relationship Reconciling different parenting skills Often, couples therapy includes some individual sessions with each partner so that each may focus on his or her own processes and needs within the couple relationship. However, one or both partners may wish to pursue individual therapy to work on personal issues that are less related to the partner relationship. Your therapist can help you decide whether this should be done with the same therapist, or with another therapist either inside or outside the practice.
